Tishk International University and UTM Strengthen Academic Collaboration

In a significant move towards fostering international academic partnerships, Tishk International University (TIU) in Iraq and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) convened a virtual meeting on February 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM Iraqi time. The discussions centered on potential collaborations in research, innovation, and academic exchange.

The distinguished delegation from UTM was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shafinaz Shahir, Dean, and included senior representatives across various faculties, such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek, Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation & Development; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norazah Basar, Deputy Dean of Academic & Student Affairs; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Firdaus Abdul Wahab, Manager of External & Global Engagement. Other prominent scholars from UTM’s departments of Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences, and Mathematical Sciences also participated, along with Prof. Dr. Hesham Ali Metwally Ali El-Enshasy, Director of the Innovation Centre in Agritechnology for Advanced Bioprocessing (ICA Pagoh).

Representing Tishk International University, the delegation was led by Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of TIU, and included Dr. Jaafer Hussein, Director of International Relations; Dr. Tola Faraj, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science; Dr. Orhand Tug, Head of Mathematics Education Department; and Dr. Rand Alhashimi, IRO Representative of the Faculty of Engineering.

This high-level engagement underscores the commitment of both institutions to advancing academic excellence and global collaboration. The discussions laid the foundation for future joint initiatives in research, student and faculty exchange programs, and interdisciplinary cooperation, further strengthening the ties between TIU and UTM.
