TIU Expands Academic Partnerships with Bulgarian Universities
Tishk International University (TIU) recently concluded a successful academic mission to Sofia, Bulgaria, led by Dr. Jaafar Hussein, Director of the International Relations Office. The mission aimed to strengthen TIU’s academic ties with two of Bulgaria’s most prestigious institutions: the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), the largest business and economics university in the country, and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” the oldest and one of the most respected universities in Bulgaria. The visit also included a productive stop at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Sofia, where Dr. Hussein delivered a seminar on “Iraq’s Balancing Engagement in the Current Regional and International Diplomacy.”
Throughout the visit, Dr. Hussein met with key officials from both universities, leading to agreements to form joint task groups focused on developing student exchange programs, collaborative research, academic event participation, and potential joint Master’s degree programs with TIU. Both universities have expressed interest in visiting TIU during the next academic year.
Dr. Hussein also delivered engaging lectures at UNWE on “Modern History and Politics of the Middle East” and at Sofia University on “Middle Eastern Geopolitical Realities and Implications on Global Business with a Focus on Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”
