TIU Delegation Participates in Jordan’s 79th Independence Day Celebration
As part of Tishk International University’s (TIU) ongoing commitment to fostering global academic cooperation and strengthening international partnerships, a senior delegation from TIU visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to participate in a prestigious national event.
The senior delegation, Prof. Dr. Idris Saleh, Head of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of TIU, attended the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, held on May 26, 2025. The event was organized by the Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi Kurdish Charitable Association, under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Faisal Al-Fayez, former Prime Minister and current President of the Jordanian Senate. The occasion brought together high-ranking officials, ministers, senators, and esteemed guests.
TIU’s participation was by official invitation, and the delegation also included Prof. Dr. Ahmad Dizayee, President of Knowledge University further emphasizing the strong academic and cultural ties between the institutions and the region.
During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi delivered a keynote address that celebrated the remarkable progress of higher education in Jordan. He outlined the transformation from a time with no universities before independence to today’s thriving academic landscape of over 30 institutions serving more than 400,000 students — including over 50,000 international students. His remarks highlighted the visionary role of the Hashemite leadership in fostering educational excellence and the significant contribution of Jordanian graduates to the regional and global workforce.
The event also featured vibrant cultural performances, traditional music, and reflections on the historical presence and contributions of the Kurdish community in Jordan, making it a meaningful and celebratory gathering of cultures and shared values.
