TIU Leadership Participate as Keynote Speakers at Humboldt Kolleg 2025 in Jordan

Tishk International University proudly participated in the prestigious Humboldt Kolleg International Conference, held under the theme “Sustainable Science Development: Transforming Industries and Society” from September 17 to 19, 2025. The event was hosted jointly by Jadara University in Irbid and the Days Inn Hotel in Amman, Jordan, bringing together scholars, researchers, and academic leaders from across the region and beyond. The conference was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), and was organized in partnership with the Jordanian Club of Humboldt Fellows.

On this distinguished platform, Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, Head of the Board of Trustees at Tishk International University, delivered a compelling keynote speech focusing on the state and progression of higher education in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Dr. Idris Hadi highlighted the strategic developments taking place in the region’s academic institutions, particularly the significant role Tishk International University has played in advancing quality education, international collaboration, and scientific research. His address was met with high interest and appreciation, contributing valuable insight into the challenges and achievements of higher education in Kurdistan.

Representing TIU at the same event, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University, also addressed participants as a keynote speaker. In his speech, Dr. Abu-Orabi examined the broader landscape of higher education across Arab world countries, offering an in-depth analysis of the reforms, opportunities, and cross-border academic cooperation that are shaping the future of the region. Drawing from his extensive experience and leadership in higher education, Dr. Abu-Orabi emphasized the importance of sustainable development and innovation in university systems to respond to the evolving needs of modern societies.

Prof. Abu-Orabi was among the distinguished recipients of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship, having been honored with the prestigious award in 1989.

The participation of TIU’s senior leadership in this high-level international conference marks another milestone in the university’s commitment to global academic engagement. Beyond delivering keynote addresses, the visit also served as a platform for networking and discussing avenues of collaboration with Jordanian institutions and other international academic bodies.
