Tishk International University meets the Universiti Teknologi Petronas
Following up to the representatives of several Malaysian academic institutions’ visit to TIU on July 16th, 2023, Tishk International University represented by Dr. Jaafer Hussein, the Director of International Relations Office, Dr. Safwan Mawlood Hussein, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Tola Faraj, the Head of Medical Analysis Dept., and Dr. Rand Basil, the representative of International Relations Office at the Faculty of Engineering meets the Universiti Teknologi Petronas represented by Dr. Bashar S. Mohammed, the Head of Civil Engineering, and Mr. Tajul Ariffin B Shamsudin, the Marketing and Scholarship responsible virtually on August 15th 2023, at 11:AM Erbil time.
Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) was established on 10 January 1997 and is a leading private university in Malaysia. UTP offers a wide range of industry-relevant engineering, science, and technology programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It aims to produce well-rounded graduates with excellent leadership qualities and communication abilities.
In pursuit of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) centered around academic collaboration, the two institutions engaged in constructive discussions encompassing various facets. These included the facilitation of joint academic events, the exchange of expertise through staff and student mobility, the provision of shared academic facilities, and the development of specialized short courses and training programs. Both parties wholeheartedly acknowledged and underscored the significance of fostering robust academic cooperation between their respective universities in general, and starting the student exchange program at the Faculty of Engineering directly and even prior to signing the MoU.
UTP representatives invited the key officials at TIU to visit their campus in Malaysia and sign the proposed MoU at a convenient time.
