TIU and USM Strengthen Academic Ties

TISHK International University (TIU) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) held a virtual meeting today at 9:30 AM KRG time (2:30 PM MYT) to discuss potential academic collaborations. Key figures from both institutions explored initiatives like academic exchanges, joint research, conferences, seminars, and dual degree programs.

With the presence of (Dr. Sultan Abo Orabi, President of the University, Dr. Abdul Samad, the Dean of the Pharmacy Faculty, Dr. Jafar Hussein, Director of the International Office, Dr. Esra Bayrakdar, the Head of the Pharmacy Department, , and Dr. Ahmad H. Ibrahim, the Academic Staff Lecturer in the Pharmacy Faculty and IRO Representative) from TIU and (Prof. Dr. Hazizan Md. Akil , Coordinator of International Strategy, Division of Academic & International; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurzalina Abdul Karim Khan, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Dr. Hadzliana Zainal, Senior Lecturer, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences) from USM; the meeting featured welcoming remarks from the presidents, introductions, and overviews of each university’s strengths. Special focus was given to the Pharmacy School for joint research, curriculum development, student exchanges, and workshops. The role of International Relations Offices in facilitating communication and supporting international students and staff was also emphasized.

The meeting concluded with agreed steps, timelines, and responsibilities, along with scheduling follow-up meetings. An open Q&A session fostered further collaboration.
