TIU hosts RCSI Bahrain
Today, February 25th 2024, marked a significant milestone for Tishk International University (TIU) as it warmly welcomed a distinguished delegation from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain). Led by Prof. Dr. Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Bahrain, the delegation included Prof. Dr. Alfred Nicholson, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Head of the School of Medicine, and Mr. Fadi Ghosn, Head of Recognition, Careers, and Alumni. The visit, which took place from February 24th to 27th, 2024, culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering closer collaboration between the two esteemed institutions.
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) is a not-for-profit health sciences institution focused on education and research. The university incorporates schools of medicine, nursing, and postgraduate studies and research, and thus provides both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of education and research activities in a number of healthcare fields.
At 11:00 AM today, Tishk International University was represented by key figures including Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, the Head of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, the President of TIU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Academic Vice President of TIU, the Dean of the Faculties of Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Applied Sciences, and Dr. Jaafer Hussein, the Director of the International Relations Office. They officially received the RCSI- Bahrain delegation and engaged in a productive session that included presentations about both universities, academic discussion, university tour and gift exchange.
During the meeting, both parties discussed mechanisms for academic collaboration and explored opportunities for mutual cooperation. This fruitful dialogue led to the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, symbolizing the commitment of TIU and RCSI Bahrain to strengthen their partnership. The MoU outlines various areas of collaboration, including joint research initiatives, student exchange programs, faculty development, and more.
