TIU participated in Symposium Academic Cooperation in Progress

Through the academic collaboration program between the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany and 9 university partners in Iraq, an academic event entitled the Symposium Academic Cooperation in Progress – Sustainability in engineering: approaches in higher education, research and industry held on November 21st 22nd, 2023, at Van Royal Hotel in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The Symposium started its schedule with the presence of the representatives of DAAD, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/ Kurdistan Regional Government,  and; 9 Iraqi partner universities including Tishk International University.

TIU represented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, the Head of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, the President of TIU; Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, the Academic Vice President of TIU; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jwan J. Mohammedshareef, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaafer Hussein, the Director of International Relations Office.

During the inaugural ceremony of the Symposium, Assistant Professor Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, the Head of the Board of Trustees, delivered a significant address emphasizing the importance of collaboration between Iraqi universities and their German counterparts. He shed light on the historical significance of this partnership.

The first day of the symposium featured a program divided into three sessions, where fruitful discussions took place, marking a successful start to the event.
