Tishk International University Strengthens Academic Cooperation with Libya’s National Center for Modern Languages
As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening regional academic partnerships and promoting excellence in higher education, Tishk International University (TIU) visited to the National Center for Modern Languages in Tripoli, Libya, on 15 July 2026.
Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University, Former Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, and President of the Arab International Foundation for Educational Development is accompanied by Dr. Nasr Al-Din Amhamed Abushandi, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Open University of Libya, and included several senior academic leaders and administrators, together with Prof. Dr. Razan Sultan Abu-Orabi Al-Adwan.
The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Fathi Mohammed Aql, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the National Center for Modern Languages, alongside heads of academic departments and administrative directors.
The visit commenced with a comprehensive tour of the Center’s educational and training facilities. Established in Tripoli, the National Center for Modern Languages is one of Libya’s leading institutions dedicated to modern language education, teacher professional development, and specialized training programs, playing an important role in advancing language education and educational quality throughout the country.
Following the tour, both sides held productive discussions focusing on expanding cooperation in the fields of academic training, scientific research, faculty development, and the enhancement of language education programs. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to improving educational quality and fostering innovation through collaborative initiatives.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi emphasized the pivotal role of regional academic organizations in advancing higher education across the Arab world. In his capacity as Former Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities and President of the Arab International Foundation for Educational Development, he highlighted the importance of building strategic partnerships, supporting joint academic initiatives, and promoting sustainable educational development. He further stressed the Foundation’s readiness to facilitate future collaboration between the National Center for Modern Languages, Tishk International University, and the Arab International Foundation for Educational Development, creating new opportunities for academic exchange, research cooperation, and capacity building.
The meeting was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Dr. Hussein Marjeen, President of the Libyan Association for Quality and Excellence in Education and a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab International Foundation for Educational Development. Prof. Dr. Marjeen’s dedicated efforts have played a significant role in strengthening communication and fostering academic cooperation with higher education institutions across Libya, contributing substantially to the success of this collaborative initiative.
At the conclusion of the visit, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional ties, exchanging expertise, and working toward the establishment of formal cooperation agreements that will support higher education institutions in Libya and contribute to the advancement of quality education across the region.
This visit represents another important milestone in Tishk International University’s continued efforts to expand its international partnerships, promote academic excellence, and contribute to sustainable educational development through meaningful regional collaboration.
