Tishk International University Students Participate in International Summer School on Additive Manufacturing in Germany

Tishk International University (TIU) continues to strengthen its international academic engagement and provide its students with opportunities to gain advanced knowledge and practical experience through international educational programmes.

As part of these efforts, Mustafa Abdulsattar Fathi, a student in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, and a staff member in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, represented Tishk International University at an international summer school hosted by TU Bergakademie Freiberg University, Germany, from 10 to 20 August 2026.

The 10-day programme, titled “Additive Manufacturing in Engineering,” brought together participants to explore emerging technologies and innovative applications of additive manufacturing across several engineering and construction-related disciplines. The summer school addressed a range of important topics, including Additive Manufacturing, 3D Printing, 3D Scanning and Geomaterials.

In addition to academic lectures, the programme provided participants with valuable hands-on laboratory training, enabling them to develop practical knowledge and gain direct experience with modern technologies and techniques related to additive manufacturing. The programme also included visits to relevant companies, offering participants an opportunity to observe industrial applications and gain insight into current professional practices.

A cultural programme was also incorporated into the summer school, allowing participants to experience aspects of German culture and engage with an international academic community.

Participation in this internationally focused programme reflects TIU’s commitment to supporting academic excellence, international collaboration, practical learning, and the professional development of its students and staff. Exposure to advanced technologies such as additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and 3D scanning is particularly valuable for students and professionals in engineering and architecture, where technological innovation is increasingly shaping the future of design, construction, and manufacturing.
