Tishk International University Hosts European Union Delegation for an Academic Session on Global Affairs
The International Relations Office, in coordination with the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Tishk International University (TIU), organized a distinguished academic session featuring a delegation from the European Union Liaison Office in Erbil on June 14, 2026. The event was held at the university campus and brought together university leadership, faculty members, and students for an engaging discussion on contemporary international affairs.
The session was delivered by Mr. Radu Butum, Head of the European Union Liaison Office in Erbil, who presented a lecture entitled “The Role of the European Union in the Current Global Order.” In his presentation, Mr. Butum highlighted the European Union’s role in addressing global challenges, promoting international cooperation, supporting peace and stability, and contributing to the evolving dynamics of international relations. The lecture provided students of the International Relations and Diplomacy Department with valuable insights into the European Union’s policies, priorities, and influence within the contemporary international system.
The European Union delegation was represented by Mr. Radu Butum and his assistant, Mr. Abdullah Fikrat. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the university administration, represented by Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özdemir, Academic Vice President; Dr. Fatih Cura, Vice President for Finance and Administration; Dr. Dana Sajadi, Head of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy; and Mr. Dana Shamsaddin, Director of International Relations.
