Tishk International University Strengthens Academic Cooperation with the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies
As part of its ongoing efforts to expand international academic collaboration, Tishk International University (TIU) continues to strengthen its partnerships with leading higher education institutions across the Arab world through the official visit of Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University, to the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies in Janzour, Libya, on 16 July 2026.
Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Duwaik, President of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies, in the presence of Dr. Abdul Salam Shaqlouf, Advisor and Director of the Office of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Libya. The meeting focused on enhancing academic cooperation, promoting scientific research, and exploring new opportunities for institutional collaboration between the two sides.
The discussions emphasized the development of graduate education, the promotion of research excellence, and the establishment of sustainable academic partnerships. Both institutions also agreed to explore the formation of a joint scientific committee to develop and implement collaborative research projects across various disciplines, fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and academic excellence.
A key role in facilitating and coordinating this academic engagement with Libyan universities was played by Prof. Dr. Hussein Marjeen, President of the Libyan Association for Quality and Excellence in Education and a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab International Foundation for Educational Development, whose efforts significantly contributed to strengthening communication and cooperation with higher education institutions in Libya.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, in his capacity as ex-President of the Association of Arab Universities and President of the Arab International Foundation for Educational Development, highlighted the importance of these regional academic organizations in fostering joint initiatives, building strategic partnerships, and promoting collaborative projects among universities throughout the Arab region.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi praised the academic achievements of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies and reaffirmed TIU’s commitment to establishing strong institutional partnerships that contribute to advancing higher education and scientific research. In return, the Libyan Academy commended Tishk International University for its academic excellence and recognized its position as the top-ranked private university in Iraq according to the QS World University Rankings, praising its commitment to quality, innovation, and internationalization.
The visit concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields presented by the Libyan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies, symbolizing the shared commitment of both institutions to deepening academic and research cooperation.
This visit marks another significant milestone in Tishk International University’s strategy to expand its international partnerships, strengthen research collaboration, and contribute to the advancement of higher education and scientific innovation across the Arab world.
