Established in 1994, Zarqa University (ZU) occupies a strategic location to the east of Zarqa City, serving as the first private university in Zarqa Governorate, Jordan. Commencing with six faculties and one hundred and fifty students across twenty majors, the university has grown significantly, presently boasting approximately six thousand students distributed across thirteen faculties, encompassing seven humanities faculties and six scientific faculties.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions has been renewed, with both presidents, Professor Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi and Professor Dr. Nidhal Al Ramahi, officially signing the agreement on December 26, 2023. The primary objectives of the MoU include reinforcing and advancing the collaborative relationship between the universities, facilitating the mobility of faculty, postgraduate students, and undergraduates between the institutions. Moreover, it aims to support research publications and scientific activities such as courses, conferences, and seminars organized by either party. Additionally, the memorandum seeks to endorse short-term academic programs in technical education or online education, joint programs, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Both university presidents underscored the significance of collaboration between the two institutions and emphasized the exchange of experiences that positively contribute to the educational process and scientific research. They highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, evident in the numerous scientific and research agreements with various institutions and universities across diverse countries.
