TIU participates in IAU 2023 International Conference

Tishk International University (TIU) in Erbil has received an esteemed invitation to partake in the prestigious IAU 2023 International Conference. This distinguished event, organized by the International Association of Universities (IAU) in collaboration with Qatar University (QU), is scheduled to be held from November 25th to 27th, 2023, in Doha, Qatar.

On this pivotal day of November 25th, 2023, distinguished representatives from TIU including Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, the Head of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, the President of TIU; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaafer Hussein, the Director of the International Relations Office, participated in this significant conference. The overarching theme of the conference revolves around “Higher Education with Impact: The Importance of Intercultural Learning and Dialogue.”

This globally attended conference has attracted around 300 influential leaders in higher education from various corners of the world. Their collective objective is to engage in discussions, share valuable experiences, and formulate effective solutions pertaining to how universities can address contemporary challenges and contribute significantly to mitigating global conflicts through fostering intercultural understanding.

The conference agenda places considerable emphasis on fostering robust relationships and facilitating networking opportunities among the members of IAU and other participants. The aim is to establish meaningful connections that can pave the way for collaborative efforts in higher education, enabling universities worldwide to play an active role in promoting intercultural dialogue and cooperation.

During the second day of the conference convened on November 26th, 2023, the delegation representing the (TIU) engaged in separate discussions with prominent figures in academia. Notable among these discussions were meetings with Prof Andrew Deeks, IAU president; Dr. Hilligje van’t Land, IAU Secretary General; Dr. Omar Al-Ansari, President of Qatar University; and tens of other international academic figures separately.

Each meeting revolved around discussions that underscored the utmost significance of fostering global cooperation within the academic domain. Special attention was given to the essential nature of collaborative academic endeavors and the necessary means to enable and enrich such joint ventures. Conversations delved into an exploration of frameworks and methodologies aimed at promoting international cooperation to further the progress of common academic objectives.
